The Five Letter Word That Stops You From Achieving Your Goals
By Del Hickson

You've been successful in many areas of your life. You're fairly happy, but you realize that your life could be much better. You want your relationships to be closer and more joyful. You would like more satisfying work that utilizes your greatest strengths. You want to make a positive difference in over people's lives. You also desire abundant health and vibrant energy. You know that all of these things are possible, but they remain just out of reach.

There is a five letter word that is probably stopping you from fulfilling your dreams. The word sounds so innocent and true, but it can keep you stuck in quicksand for years. The word is "later." You've probably said to yourself, "I will focus on this goal later. I will invest time and energy on this dream later. Right now I'm just too busy. I have to get though this other situation or complete this other project first, then I'll work on my dream." Yet you are becoming more discouraged because the seemingly perfect time to start never materializes.

Later is a dangerously self-deceptive word that can sabotage your dreams. Although your goal is very important, it is not urgent. You could start working on your goal today or you could start "later." So your goal remains on the back burner for months and even years. Unless you do something different, you will remain frustrated and living well below your true potential.

I understand your aggravation because I allowed myself to get stuck in this quagmire for years. I knew that I needed a different strategy. In order to break through my inertia, I decided to divide my goal into the smallest possible action steps. By breaking them into small steps that I could complete in 10 or 15 minutes, the goal seemed easier to achieve. I also gave myself small rewards whenever I completed an action step. Before I knew it, I gained momentum and enthusiasm and was able to accomplish my goal in less time than I thought.

I encourage you to take small steps every day and you to will accomplish your goals easier and more quickly. These small steps will start snowballing your own enthusiasm to achieve more. So why not get started today? Don't let that 5-letter word stand in your way any longer!
