Getting Started Making Money on the Internet: You're in Business!

This last step in our approach will cover how to get your content rich website up, where to find content, how to find traffic, and how to find the info to grow your business and make money, plus a checklist to wrap up your three step approach to learning how to make money on the internet!
So you’ve chosen your passion, and hopefully picked a website provider to help you get started in Step Two. Now you need quality content for your site to draw visitors! There are two essential ways to add content…write your own, or use someone elses. Now the first mistake I made in growing my business was to feel I had to use ONLY my content to be credible, and to avoid losing business to others. First of all, that’s nonsense. There is abundance out there for all, and always creative ways to keep yourself above the competition, that’s half the challenge, keeping things new! Secondly, you are cheating your readers out of quality content by serving up just one persons ideas and points of view. Thirdly, I believe as you help others succeed by using their articles, someone will help you!
Most website owners on the net will offer their articles up for free, provided you include their bio and website link. It’s free promotion for the site, and helps improve your rankings on the search engines. You can find articles for free reprint by either searching out like minded websites and emailing the editor, or visiting article banks on the web. There are many banks, and I recommend several. Ideamarketers.com, Yahoo Article Announce, ArticleCity.com and ArticleDestination.com are but a few. Follow the rules for reprint at each site. Now make a commitment to add at least one new article a day to your site to make it grow!
There are many ways to generate traffic, but the best one is free. You are going to write your own articles, and distribute them on the web. Offer them up to like minded websites, and set up a regular mailing so they can receive every article you write. Add your articles to the same article banks you went to for content. This will not only send you traffic when readers view your articles on others newsletters and websites, but will send you traffic from the search engines by increasing your rankings. The more sites that link to yours, the better your rankings. I also highly recommend and use an article distribution service called ISnare. They are highly affordable, and after submitting my articles to their site, I saw my traffic grow and my time saved! By the way, you can also have them send you content, free!
DO NOT think you cannot write an article! Simply write up your 10 best tips for your passion, in common language like you were writing a letter to a friend. Write a bio at the end in third person, including your web link. Your done! Make sure you use spell check, and send it out to as many sites as you can, in your target categories. (Do not spam…address the editors with “article submission”.) Other articles will come with experience…watch what others are writing and their styles, and keep a running list of article ideas.
Ok, so now we have content, and some traffic. What do you do with it all, and how do you make money? Well, there are many answers to that, but again, this step by step approach is meant to get you the basics to get you up and running, and we’ll learn more after we get our business off the ground today! The three fastest ways to start making money on the net is advertising, affiliate sales, and product sales.
Advertising from private parties might be limited at first until you get your traffic numbers up. In the meantime, anyone can make money by adding Google Ads to their site. In fact, it’s one of my primary sources of income! Everytime someone clicks on one of the ads, you get paid. For a long time, I resisted putting Google ads up because I was trying to keep my site less commercial, but lets face it, we do a lot of work, and we need to eat! Our readers are there for info, and there is nothing wrong with selling advertising to get them that info. Sign up for a free Google Adsense account today, and you can easily copy and paste the code to your site, and be making money tomorrow! Don’t make the same mistake I did, I lost thousands of dollars by waiting!
Secondly, selling other peoples products for part of the profit is called affiliate sales. The best place to find these products and get paid for promoting them is at Clickbank. An account is free, and they send checks every two weeks. You can sign up at http://buddec.reseller.hop.clickbank.net You will also use this service later on to sell your own ebooks, and have others sell them for you! (Don’t worry, I’ll show you how!)
Lastly, eventually you might want to take a stab at product sales. The easiest way to go about this is to sell infoproducts like ebooks, but you can also sell hard goods. One of the fastest and easest ways for a new business to handle sales and to accept credit cards is to get a free Paypal business account. You can sign up to Paypal at https://www.paypal.com/us/mrb/pal=NPL9HEMZTK9RG .
You also want to have a way to gather email addresses of the visitors at your site, with their permission, of course. A great way to do that is to set up a regular newsletter you can email out with new content, offers for affiliate sales, and good deals on things you are selling. Not only does it help your sales, it reminds regular readers to visit the site to improve your Google Ad revenues! You can purchase software to manage your newsletter, but I just use Yahoo Groups. It’s free, easy to use, and you can set it to be a newsletter only, or a message board where everyone can join in.
