Biggest Mistake Women Make when Building Their Website: Don’t Make It!
By Kathy Wilson

I spent a lot of years making mistakes while learning to build an online business and in building my websites. Now that I’m teaching other women how to make money on the internet, there is one website building mistake that causes women to lose out on more money and opportunity than any other. And it is SO easy to correct! If you are making this mistake, don’t feel badly; I still find seasoned internet business people making the same one.

So what’s the big oops? Not including on the website any way for people to contact you. Why is this a problem? Because in today’s age of internet marketing, few of us go it alone. Networking with other professionals, providing advertising opportunities and entering into affiliate programs and joint ventures bring in the largest amount of income for most internet marketers. And I don’t care of your website is about high tech business solutions or teaching women how to knit…we are all internet marketers.

The truth of the matter is, almost all my advertising revenue and most of my joint ventures have come from other business people viewing my site, then using my contact page to request information on working together. Some of these ventures have made me thousands of dollars, and I work with many of those partners to this day. And I would have missed it all if I hadn’t had that contact page available to use.

Yes, you will get a lot of junk requests. Yes, you might even get spammed, although there are processes one can use to minimize that. But from a business perspective it’s worth it, and has one more advantage. A website that has no contact information appears to be less than trustworthy. Period. The fastest way to look “fly by night” is to give no impression that you can, or will  provide any kind of customer service whatsoever.

So take this simple tip on how to build a website. You’ve heard me talk in the past about the best way to design a simple, professional website, but this is one mistake any beginner can avoid. Have a contact page. Link it to every page, preferably in your navigation. Same goes for a blog! You can list your email in your profile if you prefer. The next time you open your email the perfect opportunity to monetize your site might just be waiting for you!
